LiU Construction Logistics
The research on Construction Logistics within Linköping University (LiU) is organised under the Department of Science and Technology (ITN) at the Norrköping campus. The foundation of this research is a donation by the Lars Erik Lundberg Foundation for Research and Education, through the LE Lundberg Chair in Construction Logistics. Other contributors are Linköping University, Lejonfastigheter, the County Council of Östergötland, Sankt Kors Fastighets AB, as well as Peab and the municipality of Katrineholm. The latter two are involved in ”Brains & Bricks”, a research centre for high-tech constuction here at liU Norrköping.
The Construction Logistics Group consists of seven people, including four PhD students, but has the ambition to grow further during 2012-2013, primarily through the recruitment of more PhD students. Research in the group focuses on conducting needs-driven research with the overall objective to build more efficiently in terms of time, cost, and quality, so that total construction costs can be reduced by 25% compared to general levels of today. To succeed in this the group focuses on three slightly different but interacting areas of construction logistics: the supply chain to the construction site, the logistics of the construction site, and the interface between these.
