The LE Lundberg Chair in Construction Logistics
Since 2009 the Lars Erik Lundberg Foundation for Research and Education finances a newly established professorship named ?The Lars Erik Lundberg chair in Construction Logistics. The foundation guaranties the funding of the professorship and a doctoral student during 10 years with initially SEK 1,500,000 per 12-month period.
General aim and vision
The vision is to establish a nationally recognized research group within the area of construction logistics by 2015, and to be an internationally recognized group by 2020. In this process the general aim is to support the Swedish construction industry so that it can be competitive also when competition increases due to, for example, globalization.
The overall goal is to conduct research grounded in the needs of the construction industry to increase its effectiveness concerning time, costs and quality, with a special focus on:
- Developing new methods and new processes for effective construction logistics.
- Developing logistic principles and methods for an increased level of industrialization.
- Developing new information-, planning- and decision support system adapted to the construction industry?s special and future needs.
Dissemination of knowledge
Besides hosting seminars, conferences and providing key note speeches for the construction industry and its stakeholders, the group is also transfer knowledge and research results through newsletters and trade journals. All research projects are also linked to an industry partner, granting that the results are applicable and available for the construction industry.
In terms of education, the group offers a course in Construction Management and Logistics including topics such as Construction Supply Chain Management, Lean Production/Lean Construction, Industrialization of the Construction Process, etc.
